Increase funding to feed more kids
Our children deserve healthy meals at school. Their health and academic success depend on it. Congress should increase funding for the Child Nutrition Act to make healthy meals a reality for more children.
Improve standards for meals and other foods
Studies show school lunches are better than other non-cafeteria options, but a new report found that these school meals aren't meeting the mark on nutrition. Congress must support the USDA's efforts to update nutrition guidelines.
Provide staff with the tools they need
School food service staff plays an important role in preparing nutritious foods, but they can't do it without funding for new equipment and training. Congress should provide adequate funding for school staff.
Procure healthy, local products
Providing fresh fruits and vegetables in school lunches can help both our kids and our local, rural economies. Congress should ensure farm-to-school efforts are properly funded.
